Queen Naija Press Conference

“30 is the new 25. 30 is fun. 30 is thriving. 30 is… great.”

Atlanta-based singer-songwriter Queen Naija is kicking off her 30s with the release of a new EP. What started as singing in church and writing songs at just three years old has turned into a dream career for Queen Naija. Gaining recognition on YouTube and American Idol was just the beginning. She went all-in on her passion for music in 2017, releasing her debut album missunderstood just a few years later in 2020. This album climbed the Billboard charts and ultimately led to award-show nominations. Just a few weeks ago, Queen Naija released a new EP titled 30.

Entering this new era, Queen is excited to explore versatility within her music. In a recent press conference with Queen, she discussed how she felt the need to establish herself as an R&B artist first, but now she’s ready to explore what she can create outside of R&B as well. Queen is focused on enjoying the present moment in her life and career, while continuing to improve as an artist and performer.

With this new EP, she hopes listeners recognize how much she has grown. Not only has the context of her lyrics changed, she has worked on elevating the production of her music and even her songwriting process has shifted. Queen is using the beginning of this new decade to focus on pouring into herself and rediscovering what she wants. She’s looking to find balance between transparency and privacy, while still being the relatable artist that draws so many listeners in.

While Queen may have grown in many ways since her breakthrough in 2017, she is undoubtedly going to continue being organically herself. While this album has shifted away from heartbreak, listeners shouldn’t count out “lover girl” music for future projects. For now, she wants the new EP to make listeners feel confident, sexy, and fun.

In one of the newly released tracks named “put in on (eat),” Queen sings "pressure makes diamond rings,” and I foresee this being the start of Queen Naija’s diamond ring era. She’s ready to shine and show the world what more she’s capable of on tour in 2026.
